Why I Believe the Bible

We are living in a culture that is becoming increasingly hostile towards the Bible. The reason for this is simple: the Bible says things people don't want to hear. Some of its teachings are not what you would call "politically correct". Many liberals are trying to convince the younger generation that the moral standards set forth in the Bible are no longer relevant or applicable to our "advanced", "progressive" way of thinking. Times have changed, so they say.

How do we answer that reasoning? How about Psalm 119:160, "Thy Word is true from the beginning and every one of Thy righteous judgments endures forever". Or this verse: "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall never pass away"(Matt. 24:35). Because "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Heb. 13:8), the Word of God likewise does not change with the times.

It takes courage indeed to stand for the truth of the Word of God in an age such as this. The doctrines of the Bible are under attack, especially these doctrines:
1. The literal account of creation
2. The sanctity of human life
3. The definition of marriage
4. The eternal retribution of sinners (hell)
5. The way of salvation as found only in Christ
6. The nation of Israel as special to God
7. The second coming of Christ

It's time for Christians to decide who to believe--the progressive liberals who deny the moral teachings of Scripture, or God who is the one and only source of TRUTH.
Martin Luther wrote:
"Feelings come and feelings go, and feelings are deceiving. My warrant is the Word of God, naught else is worth believing"!
