The Future of Israel

Introduction: The the recent denial by Israel to allow 2 women US Representatives (who are anti-Israel in their sympathies) entrance into Israel reminds us again of the age-long animosity towards Israel and conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. Many attempts have been made, by various US administrations, to achieve a peace treaty in the Middle East, and resolve the Palestinian problem once for all. Let's look at what Bible prophecy says about the future of Israel:

First, eventually, Israel will indeed make a treaty, and sign a Middle East peace pact.
This event, prophesied in Daniel 8:25, will signal the rise of the Anti-Christ, and the official beginning of the period of seven years known as the Tribulation.
That verse says: “By peace (he) shall destroy many”. This seems to indicate the world will be on the brink of a full scale war in the Middle East, when the counterfeit Christ comes through will his magical, diplomatic peace proposal. Whether Israel ever concedes land for peace is debatable, but somehow they will be enticed into signing a peace pact.
This explains why the Anti-Christ, in Rev. 6:1, is seen making his entrance on a white horse, the very emblem of heroism, and political peace.

Second, after 3 ½ years, the Anti-Christ breaks the treaty, and becomes a traitor to Israel.
According to Daniel 9:27, this awful act of treachery and betrayal is called the “abomination of desolation”. This man will cause the temple sacrifices to cease, and will turn against the Jewish people. It is at this time that the “Man of Sin” (another term for the Anti-Christ) will enter the temple in Jerusalem and declare that he is God. See II Thes. 2:4
Jesus Himself refers to this event in the Olivet Discourse (Matt. 24:15), as a great turning point. In effect he said: when you see this happen, run for your lives! As terrible as this time is however, God in His sovereign plan will use this “time of Jacob’s trouble” (persecution of Jews) to bring Israel to a place of spiritual repentance.
In spite of the “reign of terror” by AntiChrist, the tribulation will be a time of unparalleled world evangelism, and salvation for the Jewish people. 144,000 will be converted to Jesus the Messiah and become world wide missionaries.

Third, God’s sovereign plan for Israel (His earthly people), is that they “might be saved”.
This is where God is leading Israel—to a place of spiritual freedom, before He comes again to deliver them physically (politically), and nationally. Until God changes the heart of His people, their political fortunes remain bleak. God is more interested in the salvation of Israel spiritually than in their survival politically. The tribulation accomplishes that objective. That’s why Romans 11:26 says, “So then all Israel shall be saved”. That is a reference to the national conversion of Israel.
God makes it clear there is coming a day when he will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel. The old covenant was written in stone. This one will be written in their hearts. See Jeremiah 31:31, and Hebrews 8:8. God’s laws will be internal, not external. An external code (law) is doomed to failure. But when God changes people’s heart, and gives them a new heart, they will obey Him.

Fourth, after the Tribulation, when Christ defeats the armies under Anti-Christ at Armageddon, He will set up His throne in Israel and rule for 1000 years.
Israel will be the center of the world for the entire Kingdom period, and Jesus will literally rule from a throne in Jerusalem in fulfillment of all the Messianic prophecies:
1.“And the government shall be upon His shoulder—of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David to order and establish it henceforth and forever.” Is.9:6,7
2. “His name shall be great, and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of his father David, and He shall reign over the house of David forever.” Luke 1:32
3. “And the Lord shall be king over all the earth.” Zech. 1:7
4. “He will have on his vesture the name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” Rev. 19:16

Think of it! Israel will go from being the most persecuted nation on earth to the most prominent nation on earth. That is not good news for those liberal, anti-Israel women who are US Representatives.
