It seems to me that the prevailing mood in America today is that money is more important than morality. There is such unbelievable corruption in government today that most citizens have lost complete confidence in the integrity of elected officials. Whoever is the most dishonest and deceitful politician seems to be the one who wins elections. What have we become as a nation, and as a society?

Ten Reasons

In these Bible studies, I have been presenting a list of 10 reasons why I believe we are living in the "last days", prophesied in Scripture. So far we have covered:
1. The Regathering of Israel (Matt. 24:32,33).
2. The Rise in Apostasy (II Thes. 2:3).
3. The Rapid increase in technology (Dan. 12:4).
4. The Real possibility of GPS tracking (Rev. 1:7).
5. The Rationale for global government control (Rev. 13:16,17).
6. The Recipe for Economic disaster (Rev. 18:10,11).
Now today we will discuss how RICHES have become more important than doing what is right.

Another Sign of the Times

According to II Tim. 3:1-4 (New King James Version), there are three things men will love in the last days: (1) "for men will be lovers of themselves", (2) "lovers of money", and (3) "lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God". Man, does that describe our contemporary culture or what! Humanism (self-lovers); Materialism (money-lovers); Hedonism (pleasure-lovers). The Word of God could not be more accurate in portraying 21st century American society.

Does Character Matter Anymore?

Years ago, a man's character was looked at as the most important thing in politics. George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were men of great integrity, and respected for their moral values. Today, Presidents have affairs while in office, lie to the American public, and take bribes from wealthy donors who only seek to pedal influence. It has become absolutely disgusting.

How Does Anti-Christ Come to Power?

According to Daniel 8:25, the Anti-Christ comes to power by lying. "Through his cunning he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule, and he shall exalt himself in his heart". This same idea is presented in II Thes. 2:9-11. "The coming of the man of sin (lawless one) is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason, God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie". Bible scholars have debated what "the lie" exactly is that the Anti-Christ will perpetrate on the world in order to rise to power.
1. Could it be the lie that he is Christ? He certainly will say that.
2. Could it be the lie that millions of Christians were snatched away by an alien invasion? He will have to explain the Rapture somehow!
3. Could it be the lie that he is on the side of Israel? We know that half-way through the Tribulation he betrays his covenant with Israel.

Doing the Right Thing May Cost You

How do we apply today's Bible study to our lives? First, vote for candidates who are honest and trustworthy. Second, do what is right in the workplace. If your employer is asking you to cheat, or lie, or do something unethical, doing what is right may cost you your job. But God will bless you for it. Third, live a life of high moral virtue. Stay faithful to your marriage vows. Strive for purity and godliness. Make sure you don't sell your soul to the Devil by living for mere materialistic gain. Finish every day by being able to look in the mirror and know that you have been true to God, true to others, and true to yourself.
