Israel's 70th Anniversary Celebration

The big celebration in Israel this past week was not just because of the opening of our new embassy there in Jerusalem, but it marked Israel's 70th anniversary. The modern state of Israel was born in May of 1948--a date that is very important for those of us who are students of Bible prophecy.
Do you realize that all end-time prophecy hinges on what happened in 1948? Now I know that Christians from the first century of the church age all the way through to the first half of the 20th century all held a sincere belief in the second coming of Christ. That has been the "blessed hope" of the church ever since Christ promised to return in John 14:3.
However, it has only been since 1948 (my lifetime since I was born in 1948 too!) that Israel (the Jewish people scattered all around the world) became a nation. According to Zechariah 14 Jesus will return and "plant His feet on the Mt. of Olives". How could Jesus return to Israel and rule from Israel if there was no Israel? Why would the battle of Armageddon be fought on the plain of Jezreel (or valley of Megiddo) where Christ returns to fight on behalf of delivering His people from the armies of the AntiChrist, if there were no nation of Israel to defend and save? Why would the Bible say that God would someday yet choose Jerusalem again unless Jerusalem was indeed the capital of the modern state of Israel?
You see, the plain fact is this. In 1948 an event occurred that set in motion the scenario for the entire scope of end time prophecy to be fulfilled, and by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital only further advances the narrative of prophecy.
I'm not sure how the great Bible teachers of the 1800's explained prophecy as centered around a place that didn't even exist. But I sure am glad that I live in the age where I can actually see the stage being set for the coming of Christ. I am glad that our country has chosen Jerusalem for its embassy, because one day soon Jesus will choose Jerusalem as the place to set up His earthly throne to rule over the earth.
Even so come, Lord Jesus!
