Things are heating up fast in the Middle East. Wednesday night Iran attacked Israel by firing 20 of their rockets into the Golan Heights. Fortunately, Israel’s defense system, the “Iron Dome”, shot down 5 of these, and the others fell short of their intended targets, so there was no major damage. In retaliation however, Israel sent its Air Force out on bombing missions and 50 sites were destroyed in Syria that were being used by Iran as staging grounds in their ever-expanding influence in the Middle East.
If you do an internet search of this attack, this exchange of fire between Iran and Israel, you will note that several newspaper headlines called this the start of WW III. Truly, from a Biblical perspective, this event is much more consequential than other things in the news such as the meeting between President Trump and the dictator of North Korea. All end-time prophecy revolves around Israel, therefore this act of aggression by Iran has serious ramifications.
Everyone knows that Iran has become a bad actor in the Middle East, spreading its influence in Lebanon through Hezbollah, in Syria by turning Assad into their own puppet, in Iraq by trying to destabilize the Iraqi government, in Yemen, and elsewhere. Iran has been on a path of taking over the entire Middle East for the past decade. The very fact that they launched an attack from Syria without the authorization of the official Syrian government is unbelievable proof of their intrusion and interference in the affairs of other "satellite" nations. Israel knows that its very survival depends on keeping Iran from developing military bases inside Syria.
This action only further demonstrates why our country was right in pulling out of the Iran nuclear agreement that was so foolishly brokered by President Obama. Iran cannot be trusted. Iran is the avowed enemy of Israel and thus the enemy of the United States. Perhaps not right now, but at some point in the future, there is going to be an all-out war against Iran unless the civilian population is able to overthrow the Mullah’s in a revolution. I am becoming more and more convinced that the great "army of the east" mentioned in Revelation that gathers to destroy Israel, right before Armageddon, is not from China (as most Bible teachers thought for the past 50 years) but a confederation of Muslim nations, headed by Iran, because of their long-standing hatred of Israel.
In Matt. 24:6 Jesus said: “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise up against nation.”
Keep your eyes on Israel. You may be seeing Biblical prophecy unfold before your very eyes. "When you see these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near" (Lk. 21:28).
