The recent televised hearings of the Senate Judiciary Committee's confirmation of Brent Kavanaugh has dominated the news the past few days. These hearings have become political theater for senators to grandstand for their political parties. Most of what is going on is a ridiculous circus and a disgrace to the process--the way these hearings are supposed to operate.
When Christ, who is the "Judge of all the earth" (Gen. 18:25) takes over at His second coming, thankfully no liberal democrat senator is going to have a voice in that event taking place. Jesus will be the Judge of all the earth, not just the American Supreme Court. Let me share four things the Bible says about the way Jesus will rule:
FIRST, He will do right. In II Tim. 4:8, Paul refers to Christ as the "Righteous Judge". He will rule in perfect righteousness because He IS perfectly righteous! He cannot be anything other than fair and righteous in all His ways. In Rev. 19:11 it says this about the second coming of Christ: "In righteousness does He judge".
SECOND, He will grant no favors or exceptions. We all will have to face Him. "Ye are come to God the Judge of all" (Heb. 12:23). "Behold the Judge stands at the door" (James 5:2).
THIRD, He will not judge according to outward appearances, but judge the hearts of men. Isaiah made this truth clear: "He shall not judge after the sight of His eyes". In Bible times, kings had to rely on what they saw and what they heard in order to know the facts and make a judgment. Jesus will not need information to make His decisions, because He already knows all things.
FOURTH, He will judge even the "secrets of men". According to Romans 2:16, there is coming a day when "God will judge the secrets of men by Christ Jesus". Think about it. All the political corruption and the "cover-ups" that have eluded the justice system and gone unpunished will be exposed in that day! We will finally know the truth behind every single scandal that has been swept under the rug. Jesus will expose it all. "All things are naked and open to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do" (Heb. 4:13).
There is coming a "confirmation" of Jesus Christ as the Judge over all the earth--and that is the confirmation I am looking forward to!
